CORI Justice PublicationsTaoiseach launches CORI Book(taken from website of Department of the Taoiseach, October 18th, 2006) Speaking in Government Buildings today, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, T.D., paid tribute to CORI Justice, who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their establishment. The Taoiseach was launching a book entitled Social Policy in Ireland: Principles, Practice and Problems. It is a revised and updated edition of a book which he launched for CORI in 1998. "CORI have been at the forefront of social policy debate and analysis in Ireland over recent years", said the Taoiseach. "Especially in the context of social partnership, they have put forward reflections and proposals which have had at their core the goal of enabling people to live life with dignity, especially those who require the support of the rest of the community if they are to achieve their full potential". Paying tribute to Fr. Sean Healy and Sr. Brigid Reynolds who, with Micheál Collins have edited the new book, the Taoiseach said: "Sean Healy and Brigid Reynolds have deservedly won recognition for their commitment and dedication to the cause of social justice in Ireland. Their work is always challenging and relevant, even when one doesn't necessarily agree with their conclusions or recommendations. Nevertheless, this new publication is testament to their effectiveness in keeping social justice at the top of the public agenda and I am happy to wish them, and CORI Justice every success on the occasion of this happy anniversary". |
